Terms of Service
Terms governing the GrantCortex MCP server and grantcortex.eu.
1. Scope and parties
These terms govern your use of the GrantCortex MCP server and associated website (grantcortex.eu, mcp.grantcortex.eu). The service provider is: Szabó István Márió, 6400 Kiskunhalas ("GrantCortex", "we", "us"). The user/tester is referred to as "you". The electronic contract is formed on registration with your express acceptance of these terms; the terms are made available before registration (Hungarian E-Commerce Act, Act CVIII of 2001; Civil Code §6:78).
2. The service — what we do and do NOT do
GrantCortex is a tool layer for AI agents that provides data access, eligibility calculations, and context tools for the EU grant lifecycle. Specifically, we:
- structure and re-serve grant information from public EU/national sources;
- provide deterministic eligibility calculations and source-cited search/recommendation results;
- offer access through MCP-compatible clients (Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, Perplexity, etc.).
GrantCortex is explicitly NOT:
- legal advice;
- financial or grant-application advice;
- proposal writing (that is a human task);
- a guarantee of grant success, outcome, or acceptance.
3. Beta & preview — "as is", no warranty
The service is currently in beta / gated preview: experimental, may contain errors, and may change at any time.
Access is free until 30 September 2026. After the beta closes, planned tiered pricing (Free / Premium / Enterprise) may apply; we will notify you before any charges, and paid use begins only with your separate acceptance.
No SLA or uptime guarantee is provided (best-effort operation). We ship frequent updates; maintenance typically runs in the evening hours (~22:00–02:00 CET), when brief downtime may occur.
The server is provided "AS IS". To the extent permitted by law we disclaim all express or implied warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
Beta membership may be terminated at any time, without cause, by either party. Feedback you provide during the beta may be treated as non-confidential and used, free of charge and on a limited basis, to improve the service.
4. Accounts and tester-key terms
- Registration requires a valid email address; you are responsible for the security of your account and credentials (password, API/tester key, session).
- During the beta, tester/API keys are issued for non-commercial evaluation purposes.
- Keys must not be shared, published, sold, rented, or transferred to third parties.
- GrantCortex may revoke a key or suspend an account at any time, including for misuse, breach of these terms, or expiry of the preview period.
- We may log technical request metadata for security and debugging (see the Privacy Policy for details).
5. Acceptable use
Detailed rules are in the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP). In particular, the following are prohibited:
- automated scraping or bulk downloading of the server beyond normal MCP client traffic;
- violating the terms of use of underlying data sources;
- onward use of data obtained through GrantCortex that breaches the originating source’s licence (see Section 7);
- overloading, spoofing, or disrupting GrantCortex infrastructure;
- use for illegal, misleading, or harmful purposes.
6. Intellectual property and database rights
The GrantCortex name, MCP-server software, tool schemas, knowledge base, and website copy are the intellectual property of Szabó István Márió.
The GrantCortex aggregated catalogue — our selection, structure, enrichment, embeddings, and relevance rankings — is our own work and may be protected by the sui generis database right under Directive 96/9/EC (Hungarian Copyright Act, Chapter XI/A). You may not extract or re-utilise a substantial part of it, nor repeatedly and systematically extract or re-utilise insubstantial parts. In particular, bulk export, scraping, or redistribution of the aggregated dataset is prohibited.
7. Data sources and attribution
GrantCortex structures and re-serves data from public EU/national sources. We re-utilise only sources for which an open licence, a statutory re-use basis, or written permission exists.
| Source | Legal basis / licence | Conditions / attribution |
|---|---|---|
| EU Funding & Tenders Portal (Horizon Europe, Digital Europe, EDF), CORDIS, EU work-programme documents | CC BY 4.0 (© European Union) — Commission Decision 2011/833/EU | Attribution required: “© European Union, reused under CC BY 4.0, changes were made.” Embedded third-party / industrial-property material (logos, etc.) is excluded. (Source: the EU’s legal notice; see also the Portal's legal notice.) CC BY 4.0 licence |
| Vinnova (Sweden) | CC0 / public domain | Free reuse, no attribution required (courtesy credit appreciated). (Source: Vinnova’s statement.) |
| RVO (Netherlands) | Dutch open government data (Auteurswet art. 15b) | Free reuse; image material is excluded (we ingest none). (Source: RVO’s statement.) |
| NKFIH, palyazat.gov.hu, KAP (Hungary), MTA, HUN-REN (Hungary), FFG (Austria) | Official-communication exemption + public-sector-information (PSI) re-use — pending confirmation | Currently SWITCHED OFF (since 2026-06-22): we serve no data from these sources until the legal basis is confirmed and documented. |
Excluded sources
The catalogue deliberately does NOT include sources whose terms forbid commercial re-utilisation or that asserted a machine-readable reservation of rights. Specifically excluded: the Tempus Public Foundation (TKA), KAVOSZ Zrt., the International Visegrad Fund (IVF), EUREKA/Eurostars, and EEA Grants / NCTA. The tool layer does not re-serve these unless written permission is obtained.
Where a source requires attribution (e.g. CC BY 4.0), you must preserve that attribution in any onward use of data obtained through GrantCortex (pass-through obligation).
8. AI-generated recommendations — not advice
GrantCortex tools (including grantcortex_search_grants and grantcortex_recommend_grants) return heuristic, source-cited results. They are produced with automated/AI ranking, are for informational purposes only, and do NOT constitute legal, financial, or eligibility advice. You remain the decision-maker; verify every result against the original source document. Under the EU AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689) the service has a limited-risk profile; should an AI assistant ever interact with you directly, we will clearly disclose this (Article 50(1)).
9. Notice and takedown
If you are a rights-holder and believe content served by GrantCortex infringes your rights, write to info@grantcortex.eu. The Notice-and-Takedown page describes how to file and the process. This is a voluntary rights-holder channel (not a DSA obligation — GrantCortex serves its own content and does not host user content); routine claims are reviewed on a best-effort basis within 7 days, and manifestly illegal content is handled without delay. Each record carries its source and a checksum, so a contested item can be located and withdrawn precisely.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, GrantCortex is not liable for any indirect, consequential, incidental, or punitive damages, including lost profits, unsuccessful grant applications, missed deadlines, or data loss. GrantCortex’s total liability shall not exceed the amount you actually paid for the service in the preceding 3 months (the beta is free, therefore: EUR 0).
11. Third-party data accuracy
GrantCortex aggregates data from public EU/national portals and makes no warranty as to their accuracy, completeness, or availability. You are responsible for the lawfulness of your own onward use of data obtained through GrantCortex and will not hold GrantCortex liable for your breach of a source licence.
12. Changes
We may update these terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated by email or posted on the website. Continued use after notice constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of Hungary. Disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent Hungarian court. Where you act as a consumer, the protection of mandatory consumer law continues to apply to you.
